- Your show host Robert and special guests Pam and Brock Yates. Brock is a world reknowned automotive journalist, author, racer and car collector. Influenced by his father, an automotive and mechanical journalist in his own right, Brock began writing articles for science magazines at the age of 16. After serving in the U.S. Navy as a officer, he pursued his passion for cars as a writer for Car and Driver magazine. In 1971, Brock established the first coast-to-coast race called the Cannon Ball Sea-to-Shinning-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash. This race, and a book written by Brock led to the production of the famous movie; the Cannonball Run, staring Burt Reynolds. There is a scene in the film that is a true depiction of what really happened when Brock, his wife Pam and Hal Needham were actually pulled over by the New Jersey State Police. Brock competed in a number of races as well as the 24 hours at Daytona in the early 70's. He was a reporter for CBS and Nascar and also an announcer for TNN Motorsports. He has written many books and articles, and still is a motorsports editor at large. He often attends vintage races, Concours car shows, traveling with his wife and sidekick Pam.
