Your show host Robert and special guest Parnelli Jones. Parnelli started his racing career driving jalopies. He has won races and set records driving Midgets, Sprint Cars, Nascars, Indy Cars and has even won races in Off-Road events. In 1963 he won the Indy 500, and the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. In 1967 he drove the infamous STP Turbine Car at the Indy 500. In 1967 Parnelli drove a Mercury Cougar in Trans-Am and then in 1970 won the Trans-Am Championship for Ford in a Boss 302 Mustang. In the late 60's Parnelli competed in some off road events ultimately winning the Baja 1000 on several occasions in a Ford Bronco. In 1971 he formed the Vel's Parnelli Racing Team and competed in Indy car. Together with drivers Mario Andretti, Al Unser and Joe Leonard they won three national championships. In the late 60's Parnelli started a successful Firestone Tire franchise which continues today. He also has the Parnelli Jones Museum which houses most of the cars and memorabilia with which he has been associated. Today Parnelli makes special guest appearances and is often seen driving at many vintage racing events.
