Your show host Robert and special guest Don "The Snake" Prudhomme. Don is one of the most successful drivers in the sport of dragracing holding numerous NHRA titles. Like many early southern California hotrodders, he started racing in the late fifties. In 1962, he won his first professional drag race and in 1965 he captured his first NHRA victory at Pomona. In 1967 he broke the 6 second 1/4 mile mark in a Ford 427 SOHC powered dragster at an NHRA event. He teamed up with Carroll Shelby in 1968, piloting the Shelby Super Snake dragster. In the early 1970's, Don and fellow drag racer Tom "The Mongoose" McEwen campaigned the dueling Mattel/Hot Wheels Snake vs Mongoose funny cars. Later he drove the ARMY sponsored funny cars accumulating more NHRA victories. He was the first funny car driver to break the 250mph mark and in 1993 he was the 3rd top fuel driver to pass 300mph. Don's next drag racing venture was as a team owner of two top fuel cars which resulted in more NHRA championships. Today, Don enjoys maintaining his collection of his early race cars which he often displays at concours events. He also attends many NHRA and Indy Car races. Don is also a member of the International Motorsports Hall of Fame.
