- Your show host Robert and special guest Bud Moore. Bud was the driving force behind the successful and legendary racing team Bud Moore Engineering, number 15. Bud is a decorated WWII war veteran, with two Bronze Stars and five Purple Hearts to his credit. In 1948 he began his career in Nascar as a driver and soon realized that he was a better mechanic. Working his way up the ranks as crew chief and with a number of wins, in 1961 he founded his own team, Bud Moore Engineering. Over a 50 year period Bud Moore's team racked up 68 wins and three championships. Some of his drivers were Tiny Lund, Joe Weatherly, Buddy Baker, Bobby Allison and Daryl Waltrip. During his time in Nascar, Bud Moore had a number of innovations to his credit, most importantly the Five point saftey harness. In conjunction with Good year, he helped develop the tire inner liner. Bud Moore is also an inductee to the Nascar Hall of Fame. He currently is retired and spends much of his time on his farm in S.C, however he still has strong ties to and supports Nascar.
