  • Your show host Robert and special guest Bob Lutz. Bob is the former Vice-Chairman of General Motors. Bob was a jet-attack pilot in the United States Marine Corps in the mid to late 1950's. After attending the University of California-Berkeley, Bob began his automotive career in 1963 at GM. He went to Europe and worked at Opel in marketing through 1971. Then he was recruited by BMW and served as Executive Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing. In the mid 1970's he took a position at Ford of Europe in Germany. In 1986 Bob went to Chrysler and was involved in marketing and product development. One of the programs to his credit was the Dodge Viper. Bob left Chrysler in 1998 and became CEO of Exide Technologies, one of the largest producers of industrial batteries. From 2001 until 2010, Bob once again joined GM and during that time he served in various capacities; as Vice Chairman of Product Development, Chairman of GM North America, President of GM Europe; Vice Chairman/Senior Advisor for Global Design and Key Product Initiatives; Vice Chairman of Marketing and Communications and Vice Chairman – Special Advisor Design and Global Product Development. In 2010 Bob founded Lutz Communications, described by him as “a universal business and consulting firm with an emphasis on business in motion”. He has also written two books – "Guts": the 7 Laws of Business that Made Chrysler the World's Hottest Car Company in 1998, later revised in 2003 to the management and leadership book, "Guts": 8 Laws of Business from One of the Most Innovative Business Leaders of Our Time. It is partially based on his experience as a US Marine Corps aviator. His 2011 book, "Car Guys vs. Bean Counters": The Battle for the Soul of American Business, is about his experiences in the US automobile industry
