- Your show host Robert and special guest David Hobbs. David got his start in racing by competing at an obscure race track in his mother's 1959 Morris. He competed in a number of local events. In 1962, his father, an inventor, built an experimental automatic transmission that was used in a Lotus Elite which David successfully raced at the Nurburgring in Germany. David ‘s driving talents and wins resulted in his achieving rides by other team owners. By 1969 he became one of 27 elite drivers to be recognized as part of FIA.'s list of worlds' best competitors. Over 30 years of racing has afforded David the opportunity to compete at all levels of motorsports; sports cars, touring cars, Trans-Am, Can-Am, F 5000, Nascar, IMSA, Indy Cars and Formula 1. He competed at Le Mans twenty times. In the late 1970's David took to the airwaves doing pit reporting for Nascar on CBS. This included the first flag to flag coverage of the Daytona 500. In 1987 he joined ESPN covering F1, Le Mans, USAC and Nascar racing events. Today he is a weekly commentator on Speed Channel, co-hosting on all the F1 races, Le Mans, and various Sports Car races around the world. David currently owns and operates a Honda dealership in Wisconsin and often attends major races and car events around the country. He is a board member for the Wisconsin Motorsports Charity and WUWM Public Radio.
