- Your show host Robert and special guest Stirling Moss. Sir Stirling is arguably one of the greatest race car drivers from the golden era of racing. His passion for racing may have been genetic as his father raced Indy cars. Having been an amateur driver, at age 18 he turned professional. He raced in the UK and central Europe, slowly racking up wins only to be limited by the reliablity of his cars. He is the first Brit to win Sebring (USA) in the early 1960's. In 1954 he drove a Maserati 250F in Formula 1 resulting in numerous wins. In 1955 he signed with Mercedes Benz winning the 1000km Italian Milie Miglia and the Targa Florio in Sicily. He was in the lead at the 1955 Le Mans race when one of the sister Mercedes 300 SLR's crashed killing the driver and some 80+ spectators. Mercedes imediately withdrew from the race and Stirling never got to finish the win. In 1962 a near fatal crash caused Stirling to quit racing and pursue other business endeavors. Over his career he competed in 375 race finishes amassing an amazing 212 wins. Stirling has driven Porsche Maserati, Jaguar, Cooper and many more. He's participated in Rally, Hill Climb, Formula 1 and GT racing. Since his retirement from professional racing, Sir Stirling has engaged in vintage motorsport racing all over the world. He is very active traveling around the world giving lectures, making promotional appearances and judging at concours events. He is also involved in product endorsments, various charities and he even performs voice overs for film and commercials. Sir Stirling is truly a living legend.
