Your show host Robert with special guest Bruce Meyers. Bruce Is widely considered the “Father of the Fiberglass Dune Buggy” among car aficionados. Like many teenagers growing up in the 50’s era in southern California he was a Hot Rodder, but Bruce also enjoyed boating, surfing and spending time on the beach. He started shaping surfboards moving on to designing and building boats. This collective experience and knowledge helped Bruce design and build the fiberglass dune buggy that we have come to know worldwide as the “Meyers Manx”. The Dune Buggy craze is bigger than ever, and today Bruce manufactures and markets the Manxter and Kick-Out kits, modern re-creations of the classic and iconic Meyers Manx. Bruce still owns “Old Red”, the very first fiberglass dune buggy which is driven regularly. Old Red was also inducted into the Historic Vehicle Register, (HVA), as a car of “significant design and construction” and was honored at the prestigious 2014 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance. Bruce has recently published a book titled the “Call to Baja”, based on his involvement in pioneering, running setting the record to beat for the first ever Baja 1,000 off-road race.
